What are the Scholarships from the Australia Awards?
The highly prestigious and competitive Australia Awards Scholarships (AAS) program gives grants that are paid for by the government to students from all over the world who can show leadership qualities and a desire for change.
The program continues the long-term commitment made by previous Australian governments to provide scholarships to partner nations. It aims to give students the knowledge and abilities they need to help their own country grow.
Over 100,000 international students have received scholarships from the Australian Government to study in Australia since the 1950s.
What is included in the scholarship?
The scholarships cover a range of expenses including:
- Tuition fees
- Return air travel
- Establishment allowances – a contribution towards accommodation expenses, textbooks, study materials
- Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
- Contribution to living expenses – a fortnightly contribution to basic living expenses paid at a rate determined by the department.
In addition, students will also have access to a range of support services which may include language and academic support if needed.
