Who is A Pharmacist?

A Pharmacist is a medication expert who identifies, resolves, and prevents medication-related problems for their patients. Many known pharmacists work in community pharmacies, but oftentimes they also provide care in hospitals, family health teams, and long-term care facilities, often collaborating closely with other health professionals.

Pharmacy admission requirements for International Baccalaureate (IB) students

Program requirements

  • To gain admission, candidates must successfully complete at least two full years of university science studies with Biology, Biomedical Sciences, and Honours Science
  • Minimum overall university average of 75%

Other requirements include;

  • CASPer test,
  • Pharmacy Admission Information Form,
  • letter of reference,
  • Interview, and
  • Fundamental Skills Assessment are required
  • High school students may qualify for Conditional Admission to Pharmacy

About the program

  • Available as a co-op program only
  • Requires previous university study
  • Graduate with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD)
  • Offered by the School of Pharmacy
  • Biology, Biomedical Sciences, and Honours Science provide the fastest route into the Doctor of Pharmacy program

How to Apply for Future PharmD students

There are two ways to become a Science Student to qualify for admission into the PharmD program at the University of Waterloo.

CAP: Conditional Admission to Pharmacy (CAP) status, and PharmD Program method.

Normally, applications to the Pharmacy program are considered from university students who have completed at least two years of undergraduate science. By applying to – and receiving – CAP status at Waterloo, high school students receive a conditional offer of admission to begin the Pharmacy program after two years of studies at Waterloo.

  2. Click on the CAPs button
  3. Follow all instructions as provided to complete the form application
