All applications into full-time undergraduate programs are processed by the Ontario Universities Application Centre (OUAC).

The OUAC online application method gives you the access to apply to various Ontario universities or programs with one use.

Here are steps for Ontario University Admission

  1. Apply online through the OUAC website via the 105F form.
  2. Be sure to apply by the application time limit for the program to which you want to be admitted.
  3. Once the school receives your application from the OUAC, we will send you information through your email concerning the next steps in the admissions procedure.

Applicants submitting international academic documents

Post-secondary credentials gained outside Canada may be subject to a request to be valid by World edification Services

The deadlines are as schedule below

  • March 31 is the time limit for intercontinental applicants to submit their complete applications to the Ontario Universities Application Centre (OUAC) for identical consideration for non-competitive programs.

Please note:  any applications received after this date will still be processed by the OUAC and circulated to the universities. However, precise institutional deadlines will apply.

  • June 1 Residence applications must be received by this date to guarantee a spot in residence.
  • June 11 time limit for submitting the non-refundable tuition deposit. Applicants must first admit their offer through OUAC in order to pay their deposit.
  • July 16 certificate deadline for applicants with conditional offers of admission to passive programs. Applicants are not able to promote in summer for admission consideration to fall 2021 viable programs. Courses must be completed by Wednesday, June 30.
  • August 13 Deadline for submission of any outstanding documentation and advancement marks in support of an application, and for meeting all remaining conditions on offers extended.

 Note: The University reserves the right to adjust application time limit and decision release dates without preceding notice.

English Language Proficiency test Requirements

English for Academic Purposes (EAP)

English test

Achieving the required proficiency on one of the following English tests:

  • Cambridge English – higher: bare minimum score of 180 with no band lower than 170.
  • Canadian Academic English Language consideration (CAEL): least amount score of 70 with no sub-score lower than 60.
  • Duo lingo English Test (DET): least amount score of 110 (Education and Nursing programs need a total score of 120).
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS): general score of 6.5 with no sub-score less than 6.0 (learning and Nursing programs require a general score of 7.0).
    • Ontario Tech University is an official IELTS test venue. Registration information, including test dates, can be found on the IELTS website.
  • Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): minimum score of 85.
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: maximum score of 58.
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): Internet-based test (iBT) with a whole score of 83 (Education and Nursing programs require a total score of 87), and minimum scaled scores of Listening: 20; Reading: 20; Speaking: 19; and Writing: 20. The university’s TOEFL code is 7178. TOEFL iBT Home Edition results are also considered acceptable. Paper-delivered test results will be reviewed on an individual basis.

International students

Advanced Placement

  • The maximum score of 4 on superior placement exams.
  • A maximum of 18 credit hours can be approved.

International Baccalaureate

  • A bare minimum score of 5 on the higher-level International Baccalaureate examination.
  • A maximum of 18 credit hours can be arranged.

General Certificate of Education

  • A grade of C or better in Advanced Level (A level) courses.
  • A maximum of 18 credit hours can be granted.

University and College Transfer Credits

University- or college-level courses will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Official credentials must be sent directly by the issuing institution/governing body to the Registrar’s office to ensure granting of credit.

Please note: Notarized documents will not be assessed for transfer credit.

Achieving these scores does not guarantee transfer credit. Granting of transfer credit is subject to faculty sanction. For additional information, please visit our Transfer credit website.
