Different between polytechnic and University| Lists of Colleges in Canada

In polytechnics you will receive two awards which are:

  • National Diploma: this is the first stage of polytechnic education. It’s a two years programme if admitted through JAMB or daily part-time. Or three-year programme if admitted for a regular part-time.
  • Higher National Diploma: the second stage of polytechnic education. You go for this after ND and one-year industrial Training (IT). It’s equivalent to BSC. It can also be in the form of a daily part-time or regular part-time course.

While BSc is generally 4-year course starting from one year to final year. Firm courses such as engineering, agriculture and medical can be 5 years or more.
