  • Select program choice
  • Select the Algoma University
  • Complete your application
  • Pay a non-refundable application fee of $70 (CDN funds) payable to Algoma University

Algoma Admission Requirements by Province:

All interested applicants seeking admission into Algoma University should note the following requirements;

  • Applicants from Alberta University: Possess Five (5) academic courses numbered 30, 30-1, or 31
  • Applicants from British Columbia: Five academic courses numbered 12
  • Applicants from Manitoba: Five academic grade 12 courses at the 40 level
  • Applicants from New Brunswick: Five academic grade 12 level
  • Applicants from Newfoundland: Ten credits from academic courses numbered 3000 or higher
  • Applicants from Nova Scotia: Five academic courses numbered 12
  • Applicants from Nunavut/Northwest Territories: Five academic courses numbered 30, 30-1, or 31
  • Applicants from Prince Edward Island: Five academic courses at the grade 12 level
  • Applicants from Quebec: Six academic grade 12 courses
  • Applicants from Saskatchewan: Five academic courses at the grade 12 level
  • Applicants from Yukon: Five academic courses numbered 12

Algoma Admission Requirements by Courses:

  • Bachelor of Arts, Music – an Audition certificate is added advantage
  • Bachelor of Arts, Psychology – does not require additional prerequisites
  • Bachelor of Business Administration – Require Grade 12 academic Mathematics
  • Bachelor of Computer Science – Require Grade 12 academic Mathematics
  • Bachelor of Science, Computer Science – Require Grade 12 academic Mathematics and two Require Grade 12 academic sciences (Biology & Chemistry recommended)
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts – a Portfolio certificate is added advantage
  • Bachelor of Science, Biology – Require Grade 12 academic Mathematics and two Gr. 12 academic sciences (Biology & Chemistry recommended)
  • Bachelor of Science, Psychology – Require Grade 12 academic Mathematics and two Gr. 12 academic sciences (Biology & Chemistry recommended)
  • Bachelor of Science, Environmental Science – Require Grade 12 academic Mathematics and two Gr. 12 academic sciences (Biology & Chemistry recommended)
  • Bachelor of Social Work – does not require additional prerequisites.

International Baccalaureate Admission Guidelines (International Students)

  • The IB Diploma requires a minimum of 26 points to be accepted for admission.
  • Also Candidates with 28 points or higher in the IB Diploma will be qualified for the scholarship.
  • To be considered for Credit Transfer, Candidates must attain a minimum of 28 points in the IB diploma with a minimum grade of 5 in either Standard (SL) or Higher (HL) Level courses.
  • Applicants who have completed AP exams with a minimum final grade of 4 will be eligible to receive university credits for up to a maximum of 12 credits (four full courses).
  • International students must also have 5-6 traditional academic courses in the final year of senior secondary including English.
  • A minimum average of 65%/70% score or country-specific equivalent is required for International Students
  • Proof of language proficiency for non-native English speakers is required.
  • International students should submit copies of all transcripts including secondary school transcripts, secondary school diplomas, post-secondary school transcripts, and diplomas/degrees where applicable.
  • Gap Letter/Gap Explanation to include a resume, letters of employment, additional undeclared academic history, and/or a personal letter of explanation should be submitted, for international students.
